Play gives children a chance to experiment, repeat, imagine and connect. You do not need a complicated activity plan. Ordinary household materials and a little shared attention can go a long way.
Build and sort
Blocks, cups and safe containers invite children to stack, compare, count and test ideas. Let them lead the design and talk about what happens when a tower gets taller or a shape changes.
Tell stories together
Look at picture books, describe what is happening and wonder aloud about what a character might do next. For toddlers, pointing and naming objects is meaningful participation.
Move and explore
Try a simple indoor obstacle path with cushions, dancing to music or a supervised nature walk. Adapt activities to your child’s age, abilities and safety needs.
Follow your child’s interest. Shared enjoyment and curiosity are valuable outcomes in themselves.
