Adoptees and Suicide

45122A study last year by the University Minnesota found that adopted teens were at far higher risk if suicide than teens who weren’t adopted. Considering everything I learned too late about the “primal wound” – that break at birth between mother and child – and the personal baggage and self esteem issues that many adoptees struggle with (too many in silence), the results of this study are not surprising.

Here is a link to an online article that should lead to other links for those who want to pursue this matter further.

  1. John, I have emailed you before…talked to you about adopted daughter that is in treatment now, and was diagnosed with attachment disorder, lying…even when everyone says she is making progress, but she still lies about some serious issues? Why…and how do I actually approach this with her with out setting her off?
